Originally 36 × 24 acrylic on canvas. This is one of my more recent paintings, and the most soulful image I’ve created in a long time. It depicts the Great Gorge of the Ruth Glacier on an August evening, with the great Denali (20,310’) astride the horizon. It was painted from a stunning photography by my talented pilot father, Tom Falley. I drew on countless aerial experiences of my own from my tenure as a glacier pilot over the Alaska Range.
